Tragic Incident in Milwaukee Leaves Two Teens and Toddler Dead
Over the weekend, a devastating incident took place in Milwaukee, resulting in the deaths of two teenage boys and a toddler. The victims were identified by Milwaukee officials on Monday, shedding light on the heartbreaking tragedy that unfolded.
Teenage Victims Identified
The two teenagers, Diego Herrera-Mejia, 16, and Isaac Rodriguez, 15, were fatally shot on Saturday evening on the 800 block of West Manitoba Street. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed their identities, with Rodriguez pronounced dead at the scene and Herrera-Meja passing away at a hospital. Another 14-year-old sustained non-fatal injuries during the shooting.
Toddler Struck and Killed
In a separate incident, a four-year-old toddler, Marquell Roby-Holmes, was tragically struck and killed by a car at McGovern Park on Milwaukee’s north side. The incident occurred near the 5400 block of North 51st Boulevard, sending shockwaves through the community. Initially reported as a two-year-old, Roby-Holmes’ age was corrected by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.
High Number of Vehicle Fatalities in Milwaukee County
According to data from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Milwaukee County has witnessed 35 vehicle-related fatalities this year, the highest in the state. The statistics, which cover incidents up to June 9, highlight the urgent need for road safety measures in the area.
