The body of a police head constable, Khem Chandra, was found in a nullah near Guptar Ghat in Kanpur. He was last seen leaving his room on Thursday evening and his body was discovered on Friday morning. Chandra, who resided in Jhansi district, was posted at Kanpur’s Reserve Police Lines. It is suspected that he frequented a nearby liquor shop. The police are investigating his death from all angles, including analyzing call details and CCTV footage. Chandra’s son is a trainee sub-inspector in Meerut. The police have arrested suspects for questioning in connection with the case.

Body of Police Head Constable Found in Kanpur Nullah
Kanpur: A shocking incident unfolded in Kanpur as the body of a police head constable was found in a nullah near Guptar Ghat in the Pheel Khana area of the city. The deceased was identified as Khem Chandra, a 50-year-old resident of village Larauni in Jhansi district. Chandra was posted as a head constable at Kanpur’s Reserve Police Lines.
According to reports, Chandra had left his room around 4:30 pm on Thursday evening but did not return to the Police Lines. Concerned colleagues tried to contact him, but his phone was switched off. His family members also could not reach him. Tragically, his body was discovered in the nullah on Friday morning, near Guptar Ghat. A uniform and a belt were found near the body.
Police sources revealed that Chandra was known to frequent a liquor shop near the area. A rickshaw-puller identified him and mentioned that he would often drop Chandra off from the liquor shop to the Police Lines. CCTV footage showed Chandra heading towards the nullah near the shop.

The police are currently investigating the call details and scanning the CCTV footage for more information. Several suspects have been taken in for questioning. It was also revealed that Chandra’s son is a trainee sub-inspector posted in Meerut.
DCP (East) Shrawan Kumar Singh stated that three teams have been formed to determine the cause of Chandra’s death. “We are investigating every possible angle,” the DCP added.
