Arrest Made in Connection with Firing Incident Outside Salman Khan’s Residence in Mumbai
The Mumbai Police have recently made a significant arrest in connection with a firing incident that took place outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in April. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of April 14, involved two motorbike-borne men firing multiple rounds outside Khan’s residence in the Bandra area of Mumbai.
Identification of the Accused
The accused in question has been identified as Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar, a 25-year-old individual hailing from Bundi in Rajasthan. The arrest was made on charges of criminal intimidation, following an investigation by the crime branch officials. Gujar allegedly posted a threatening video on his YouTube channel, claiming associations with notorious gang members such as Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar.
Threats Made Against Salman Khan
In the video, the accused expressed intentions to harm Salman Khan, citing the lack of an apology as his motive. The video was reportedly filmed on a highway in Rajasthan and uploaded to Gujar’s channel. The seriousness of the threats prompted a team to be dispatched to Rajasthan for further investigation, leading to the apprehension of the accused.
Legal Actions Taken
The case has been registered at a cyber police station in Mumbai, with the accused facing charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 506(2) for criminal intimidation, and provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act. The Mumbai Police are currently investigating whether the accused has any previous criminal background.
Previous Arrests and Developments
Following the initial incident in April, a total of six individuals were arrested in connection with the case. Tragically, one of the accused, Anuj Thapan, allegedly took his own life in police custody on May 1. Additionally, the Navi Mumbai Police arrested five persons, including a member of the Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs from Haryana, in connection with a plot to attack Salman Khan.
Lawrence Bishnoi, a key figure in the case, is currently incarcerated in the Sabarmati Central Prison in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in connection with a separate case. Mumbai Police are seeking custody of Bishnoi for further questioning. Meanwhile, Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol, who is believed to be in Canada, has been listed as a wanted accused in the firing incident.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of all individuals involved in the case, as well as the general public.
