MILWAUKEE – A Milwaukee resident has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide following a shooting that took place on June 8th near 27th and State.

Hla Oo, a 32-year-old individual, stands accused of the murder of Joseph Watkins at the aforementioned location. 

CCTV footage captured the tragic incident as Watkins, aged 35, was fatally shot on a street corner at approximately 7 p.m. on that Saturday evening.

The video footage depicted two individuals engaged in a confrontation at the street corner, with Watkins pushing the other individual to the ground. The assailant then proceeded to draw a firearm and fatally shoot Watkins.

Following the shooting, the perpetrator, identified as Oo, was seen entering a black Honda Pilot with another individual before driving away from the scene. Tragically, Watkins succumbed to his injuries on the sidewalk.

Authorities conducted an investigation and discovered a vehicle abandoned at the crime scene. The vehicle was traced back to an address in close proximity to 45th and Lisbon, where law enforcement located the black Honda Pilot parked behind a residential property.

According to court documents, a witness revealed to investigators that he had been working on the shooter’s vehicle at the intersection of 27th and State when a dispute arose between Watkins and the perpetrator over cigarettes.
