A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing that took place in Costa Mesa earlier this week. The incident occurred on Tuesday in the 1700 block of Placentia Avenue, where 25-year-old Israel Antonio Valencia allegedly killed a 22-year-old man.

Upon receiving reports of the attack, officers from the Costa Mesa Police Department rushed to the scene around 11 p.m. and discovered the victim deceased. The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.

During their investigation, authorities learned that a separate incident involving a 19-year-old man being attacked had occurred near the intersection of Placentia Avenue and Shalimar Drive. This victim, who was later taken to a nearby hospital by family members, is believed to have also been assaulted by the same suspect.

Another individual, 18-year-old Christopher Matthew Pena, was arrested in connection with the case but was not charged alongside Valencia on Friday. Investigators have reason to believe that these violent acts may be linked to gang activity.
