Two children tragically drowned in an abandoned stone quarry in Thrikkodithanam, near Changanassery, on Saturday. The deceased, Aneesh Asha Adarsh of Madappally and Abhi of Manganam, near Puthuppally, were part of a group that visited the quarry pond near the Chembupuram polders. Abhi fell into the water, prompting Aneesh to jump in to rescue him. Despite efforts by group members and locals, the bodies were retrieved by the police and Fire and Rescue Services. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted at the taluk hospital in Changanassery before the bodies are released to their families.

On a fateful Saturday in Thrikkodithanam, near Changanassery, two young children met a heartbreaking end after drowning in an abandoned stone quarry. The victims, identified as Aneesh Asha Adarsh of Madappally and Abhi of Manganam, near Puthuppally, were part of a group of six individuals who had ventured to the quarry pond near the Chembupuram polders.

According to eyewitnesses, the tragedy unfolded around noon when Abhi accidentally lost his footing and fell into the water. In a courageous attempt to save his friend, Aneesh jumped into the water, but unfortunately, both children succumbed to the depths of the quarry pond.
