TRENTON — Local law enforcement agencies are currently investigating a tragic shooting incident that resulted in the death of one man and left another wounded. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, led by Angelo Onofri, has revealed that the Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are actively looking into the shooting that occurred near the intersection of Stuyvesant Ave and Hoffman Ave in the Capital City earlier this week.
Details of the Incident
On the day in question, a ShotSpotter activation in the area prompted police to respond quickly to the scene just after 5:10 p.m. Upon arriving, officers were informed that two individuals had been victims of gunshot wounds and were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment.

While one of the victims was fortunate enough to be treated and released for his injuries, the other victim, identified as Jonathan Applegate of Trenton, succumbed to his multiple gunshot wounds while at the hospital.
