The Bankhead Theater in Livermore is gearing up for an exciting summer season with a lineup that promises to entertain audiences of all ages. From youth performances to Grammy-nominated musicians, there is something for everyone at this downtown venue.

Kicking off the summer festivities is CYT Tri-Valley’s production of “The Wizard of Oz,” paired with the free Juneteenth Festival organized by Tri-Valley for Black Lives. This weekend event is a perfect way to celebrate the arts and community spirit in Livermore.

One of the highlights of the summer lineup is the concert by Jake Shimabukuro on June 28 as part of his “Tradewinds & Rainbows Tour.” With special guests Henry Kapono and Jeff Peterson, this show is sure to be a hit with music lovers of all genres.

As the calendar turns to July, audiences can look forward to a production of “The Music Man” by the Tri-Valley Theatre Company, as well as a concert by Grammy nominee Joan Osborne. August brings a mix of returning acts and new faces to the Bankhead stage. Contemporary pianist Keiko Matsui will perform, followed by the Freddy Jones Band celebrating the 30th anniversary of their hit song, “In a Daydream.” Fans of improv comedy can catch “Whose Live Anyway?” featuring stars from the hit show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”

In addition to the musical performances, the Bankhead is hosting two artistic exhibits until early August. “Faces of Our Community” showcases local nonprofits through photography, while “Community II” features acrylic paintings of homeless individuals by artist John Iacono.

Outside the venue, the Livermore Cultural Arts Council is hosting the Tuesday Tunes family concert series through August, featuring a variety of musical acts for all ages to enjoy. And the summer season will come to a close with the Brilliance at the Bankhead gala starring singer and actress Katharine McPhee.
