A tragic incident has shaken the community in Karimnagar, Telangana, as a six-year-old girl was brutally raped and murdered by a labourer at a rice mill in Peddapalli district. The suspect, identified as Balaram, a 35-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh, has been taken into custody and charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The horrific crime took place in the early hours of the day at a camp within the rice mill compound in Sultanabad. M Sreenivasulu, the Ramagundam Police Commissioner, revealed that the accused took advantage of the young girl, who was sleeping with her mother at the camp. He raped her and when the girl raised an alarm, he mercilessly killed her by throttling her neck.
Local residents who heard the commotion rushed to the scene and managed to apprehend the accused before handing him over to the police. Balaram now faces charges of rape and murder, with additional sections of the POCSO Act being invoked against him. The authorities wasted no time in sending the victim’s body to a government hospital for a postmortem examination, as confirmed by the Commissioner.
