A 20-year-old Williamsburg woman was struck and killed by a Jeep in Kill Devil Hills early Friday morning. The incident occurred at 1:08 a.m. at U.S. 158 and Ocean Acres Drive, one of the busiest intersections on the Outer Banks, when the pedestrian ran in front of a 2021 Jeep Wrangler traveling south on U.S. 158 in the outside lane. The victim, identified as Ashley Elizabeth Williams, ran eastward into the highway, “directly into the path” of the Jeep, Kill Devil Hills police said in a news release. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. No charges were filed against the driver, a 43-year-old Kill Devil Hills woman.
