On a fateful night in March 2023, Neptune Police responded to an alarm activation at the convenience store just past 1 a.m. as an employee was giving change to a customer. Herndon, armed with a sawed-off shotgun, reached over the counter in an attempt to steal money from the cash register. He then made a swift exit in an unknown direction, leaving chaos in his wake.
