The impact of the collision resulted in the closure of the westbound lanes for over four hours, spanning from Route 345 to Daniel Boone Road while authorities conducted their investigation.

Lieutenant Sean Fullerton provided insight into the preliminary investigation, revealing that Gemmell’s sedan was stationary at a red traffic light at Daniel Boone Road when it was struck from behind by the 18-wheeler. Unfortunately, Gemmell succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while a passenger in the vehicle was transported to Reading Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
