The accident occurred at the intersection of GA 15/US 441 and Webbs Creek Road around 3:05 p.m. The Georgia State Patrol reported that the collision involved a Ford Escape and a Lexus, with the Ford driver failing to yield at the intersection. Emergency responders had to extricate the trapped driver from the overturned vehicle, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. The other individuals involved were transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Tragic Accident in Banks County Leaves One Dead, Three Injured

On the afternoon of June 12, a tragic accident occurred at the intersection of GA 15/US 441 and Webbs Creek Road in Banks County, resulting in one fatality and three injuries. The incident took place around 3:05 p.m. and involved two vehicles, a Ford Escape and a Lexus.

Details of the Crash

The Georgia State Patrol reported that 67-year-old Natalie Ann Longley of Cumming was driving the Ford Escape west on Webb’s Creek when the accident occurred. Longley attempted to cross over US 441 to GA 164/Historic Homer Highway after stopping at the intersection. Unfortunately, she failed to yield and pulled into the path of a northbound Lexus driven by 44-year-old Yanett Maldonado Silva of Commerce.

Upon impact, the Escape overturned, while the Lexus rotated counterclockwise and entered the median. Both drivers and their passengers, Linda Carol McCard in the Escape and Carlos Vargas in the Lexus, sustained injuries in the crash.

Rescue Efforts and Hospitalization

Longley was trapped inside the overturned vehicle following the collision. Banks County firefighters worked diligently to free her from the wreckage before she was transported by Banks County EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Tragically, Longley succumbed to her injuries and passed away at the hospital.

The three other individuals involved in the crash were also taken to the hospital for treatment. Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols confirmed that they were transported in stable condition.
