Lebanon Rockets Strike Northern Israel After Israeli Airstrikes Kill Hezbollah Commander
Early on Wednesday morning, a barrage of rockets was fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel, in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes that killed four officials from the militant Hezbollah group. Among those killed was a senior military commander, Taleb Sami Abdullah, known within Hezbollah as Hajj Abu Taleb.
The Israeli military reported detecting around 90 projectiles, some of which were intercepted. The strikes caused several fires in the targeted areas. The escalation along the Lebanon-Israel border has been intensifying, with Hezbollah increasing its attacks on northern Israel and Israeli airstrikes reaching deep inside Lebanon.
Hezbollah Commander Killed in Israeli Airstrike
Taleb Sami Abdullah, aged 55, was the most senior Hezbollah commander to be killed since the conflict began eight months ago. His death occurred during an Israeli airstrike on a house in Jwaya, where Abdullah and three other officials were holding a meeting. The strike was approximately 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the border.
A Hezbollah official, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that Abdullah was the commander of the group’s Nasr Unit, responsible for parts of south Lebanon near the Israeli border. The official also mentioned that Abdullah’s rank was higher than that of another commander, Wissam al-Tawil, who was killed in a previous airstrike in January.

Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV reported that rockets were launched from southern Lebanon into northern Israel, triggering sirens in the Israeli region.
