Manchester United Football Club is mourning the loss of one of its Hall of Fame members, Charles Alfred Vardy. Born in 1846, Vardy played for Maidenhead FC from its early days through until the mid-1880s, where he was known as one of the most sturdy defenders in Berks and Bucks.
