Tragic Accident Claims Life of Police Officer in Sirisia, Bungoma West Sub-County
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a police officer lost his life in a tragic accident that occurred on the night of Sunday June 9 in Sirisia, Bungoma West Sub-County. The officer, identified as Fredrick Juma from the Critical Infrastructure Police Unit (CIPU), was on duty along the Chwele-Sirisia road when the incident took place.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, Officer Juma was part of a team conducting routine checks on a motor vehicle with registration number KCD 737C/ZD 8663 Mercedes Axor. The driver of the vehicle, Mr Ali Abdullahi Bunyori, was engaged in a conversation with the deceased when tragedy struck.
As they were conversing, a Toyota Land Cruiser from the Sirisia Police Station, driven by Mr Gedion Magut, collided with Officer Juma, causing him to sustain severe head injuries that led to his immediate demise. The collision also resulted in damage to the police vehicle and the stationary trailer parked nearby.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Both vehicles involved in the accident, the Mercedes Benz and the police Land Cruiser, have been impounded at the Chwele Police Station as investigations into the incident continue. The scene of the accident has been meticulously processed by traffic officers and the Bungoma Central Base Commander, who is overseeing the case.
