Law enforcement officials disclosed that the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, was one of two individuals airlifted to a medical facility after the clash that took place in the parking lot of Lake Berryessa, a day-use area located approximately 75 miles north of San Francisco. The area is renowned for a variety of recreational activities such as boating, swimming, fishing, and hiking.

The victim of the fatal shooting was identified as Andres Fabian Sandoval Garcia, aged 39, from Vallejo, California. The second person airlifted by helicopter was discharged from the hospital on Sunday, according to Henry Wofford, spokesperson for the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. Additional individuals involved in the altercation sought medical treatment by means of private transportation.

Henry Wofford stated that upon responding to a distress call, a deputy encountered two groups engaged in a violent altercation in separate areas of the parking lot. Despite administering CPR to the shooting victim, the deputy was unable to save him.

Wofford commented, “There were individuals using broken bottles to inflict harm on others during this altercation. When the deputy arrived, he described the scene as highly chaotic. It was impossible for one deputy to prevent so many individuals from engaging in physical violence.”

Investigators are urging more witnesses to come forward with information, particularly any video footage that may shed light on the sequence of events and identify those responsible for initiating the altercation. Authorities express confidence in having located the suspected gunman, who will be arrested once discharged from the hospital.

Although occasional issues arise with intoxicated boaters and individuals parking in restricted areas, incidents of violent altercations resulting in fatalities are extraordinarily rare at the location.
