In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through Prachuap Khiri Khan, a young man has been arrested after his 21-year-old dating app lover was found strangled to death shortly after discovering he was already married.

The suspect, Anuwat Pimmat, 22, was apprehended at an eatery in tambon Thongchai of Bang Saphan district in Prachuap Khiri Khan at around 10pm on Sunday. He was taken into custody under an arrest warrant issued by the Phetchaburi Criminal Court, where he was charged with murder and concealing a body.

Discovery of the Victim

The grim discovery of the victim, identified as Benjarat Choeijan, aged 22, from Phuket province, was made among the weeds alongside the Phetkasem Highway in tambon Nong Prong of Khao Yoi district in Phetchaburi on Friday. She was found dressed in a T-shirt and shorts, with no identifying documents on her person.

Relationship Gone Wrong

During a re-enactment of the crime on Monday, the suspect confessed to police that he had met Benjarat through a dating app and had been in a serious relationship with her since the Songkran festival in April. The tragic turn of events occurred when Benjarat discovered that Anuwat was already married.

According to the suspect’s statement to the police, the altercation ensued when Benjarat found out about Anuwat’s marital status and confronted him while they were passing through Sam Roi Yot district of Prachuap Khiri Khan on June 3. In a fit of rage, Anuwat admitted to strangling Benjarat.

Dumping the Body

After committing the heinous act, Anuwat confessed to driving around in search of a place to dispose of Benjarat’s body. Eventually, he dumped her remains on the side of the highway in Khao Yoi district of Phetchaburi. The chilling discovery was made four days later, on Friday.
