Mohamed Bashir Aden, aged 36, sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the 2200 block of Blaisdell Avenue on May 30, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office. He succumbed to his injuries at Hennepin Healthcare on Friday, more than a week after the shooting took place.

Aden’s death marks the fourth fatality linked to the violence that transpired on May 30, which was initiated by a reported shooting incident.

Details of the Tragic Incident

Minneapolis police officer Jamal Mitchell was shot by an individual he was attempting to provide medical assistance to, per information from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Mitchell was rushed to a hospital where he later passed away. The suspected shooter, identified as Mustafa Ahmed Mohamed, was confronted and fatally shot in a subsequent exchange of gunfire with other law enforcement officers.

Memorial and Ongoing Investigations

Mitchell, who was engaged and a father of four, is scheduled to be remembered at a public service in Maple Grove on Tuesday.

It has been revealed that Mohamed was not authorized to carry a firearm and had an active warrant for his arrest at the time of the shooting. The investigation into the incident is being handled by the BCA.
