STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is currently looking into an officer-involved shooting that took place in Henry County, Georgia.

Over the weekend, specifically on Saturday just after 4:30 p.m., Henry County officers came across a stolen truck on Business Center Drive in Stockbridge.

Details of the Incident

According to the GBI, officers attempted to stop the stolen truck, but the driver, identified as Daniel Jay Waldrop, 31, from McDonough, drove the stolen vehicle towards an officer’s patrol car, resulting in a collision.

In response to this threat, the officer fired shots at Waldrop, but fortunately, Waldrop was not hit by the gunfire, as reported by the GBI.

Subsequent Events

Following the altercation, Waldrop fled the scene in the stolen truck, prompting officers to engage in a prolonged car chase. Several nearby law enforcement agencies joined forces to bring the chase to a halt.

Although no one sustained gunshot wounds during the incident, one officer did suffer injuries. The identity of the injured officer has not been disclosed.

Outcome of the Incident

Ultimately, Waldrop was apprehended by law enforcement officials. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be conducting an independent inquiry into the matter to ascertain all the facts surrounding the incident.
