Details of the Incident
The deceased constable, identified as Deepak Kumar, was only 29 years old and was on duty to check illegal sand mining in the area. Hailing from Arrah in Bhojpur district, Mr. Kumar’s life was cut short in a senseless act of violence. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead by medical personnel.
Law Enforcement Response
Aurangabad SP Swapna Gautam Meshram provided insight into the incident, stating that Kumar had spotted a tractor loaded with illegally mined sand. In an attempt to uphold the law, Kumar instructed the driver to halt the vehicle. However, the driver callously refused, resulting in the tragic mowing down of the constable. The driver then callously fled the scene, abandoning the tractor.
Authorities have taken swift action in response to the incident, confiscating the tractor and apprehending its owner. Efforts are also underway to identify and apprehend the driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run.
