BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating a tragic incident that occurred on Saturday morning, resulting in the untimely death of 34-year-old Benjamin James Fish Jr. from Titusville.
According to reports, the fatal crash took place at the intersection of West Nasa Boulevard and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Melbourne. The incident involved a 2022 Tesla Model Y and a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found the operator of the Suzuki, Benjamin James Fish Jr., suffering from life-threatening injuries due to the collision.
Officer Jeffery Blair of the Melbourne Police Department stated, “Preliminary investigations suggest that the Suzuki was travelling eastbound on West Nasa Boulevard, while the Tesla was heading westbound on the same road, attempting to make a southbound turn onto Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The collision occurred when the Suzuki struck the Tesla during the turning manoeuvre.”
Immediate medical assistance was provided by the responding officers, who initiated CPR until the Melbourne Fire Department took over. Despite efforts to save him, Benjamin James Fish Jr. was pronounced dead at the crash site.
The authorities are currently conducting an extensive investigation to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the tragic incident.
