The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that government agencies and non-government organizations will hold activities at the Rizal Park Burnham Green, located across Quirino Grandstand, starting June 10. Adjacent roads within Rizal Park and Quirino Grandstand will be utilized for the occasion, necessitating temporary closures to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic in the area.

MMDA Acting Chairman Don Artes revealed that 1,156 personnel will be deployed to assist with the traffic situation during the celebrations. Ambulances, military trucks, dump trucks, tow trucks, and other resources will also be on standby to address any emergencies that may arise. The activities in celebration of Philippine Independence Day will run until June 12, culminating in a grand event to honor the country’s freedom fighters and patriots.
During the road closures on June 12, motorists are advised to take note of the following affected areas and alternate routes provided by the MMDA:
From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
– Roxas Boulevard (both bounds from T.M. Kalaw to P. Burgos)
– T.M. Kalaw (from Ma. Orosa to Roxas Boulevard westbound)
From 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
– Roxas Boulevard (from United Nations Avenue to P. Burgos Avenue – both bounds)
– T.M. Kalaw (both sides from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue)
– P. Burgos Avenue (both sides and Finance Road)
– Bonifacio Drive (from Anda Circle to P. Burgos Avenue)
For public utility vehicles and private vehicles going north, alternate routes include turning right to Quirino Avenue or United Nations Avenue from Roxas Boulevard, then left turn to Taft Avenue. Private vehicles coming from R-10 going to Anda Circle can turn left onto Soriano Avenue, right onto Solana Street, left onto Muralla Street, then proceed to Magallanes Drive and right onto P. Burgos Avenue.
Trucks going northbound and southbound are advised to take the South Luzon Expressway, Osmeña Highway, Quirino Avenue, Nagtahan Street, Lacson Avenue, Yuseco Street, Capulong Street, and R-10 Road to reach their destinations without any disruptions.
The MMDA emphasized that the actual closing and opening of affected roads will be based on the real-time traffic situation to minimize inconvenience for motorists and ensure the safety of all participants in the Independence Day celebrations.
