According to KPD, the collision involved a Chevrolet Suburban, a Nissan Rogue, and a Nissan Frontier. The Suburban was travelling west on Western Avenue when it crossed into the eastbound lanes, resulting in a head-on collision with the Rogue. Subsequently, the Frontier struck the Suburban. Investigators believe that the driver of the Suburban may have experienced a medical emergency leading to the crash.

The Victims

Tragically, the driver of the Suburban, identified as Clayton Chandler, 74, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan Rogue, Krista Maples, 31, and her 10-year-old son also lost their lives in the crash. Additionally, three children in the Rogue, aged 8, 4, and 2, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.
