The Shooting Incident in Greater Heights Area
Early Thursday morning, tragedy struck in the Greater Heights area of Houston on Airline Drive. The peaceful surroundings were shattered by a senseless act of violence that left the community in shock.
Surveillance footage captured the harrowing events as two suspects, their hoods pulled tight around their faces, made their way to the building where 36-year-old Damon Price was on duty. Price, a dedicated worker whose job was to oversee the arrival of delivery trucks at the facility, never could have imagined the danger that awaited him.
According to the Houston Police Department, Price bravely confronted the suspects when he noticed them attempting to steal a golf cart. A scuffle ensued, and in a tragic turn of events, one of the suspects drew a weapon and fired multiple shots at Price, leaving him gravely injured on the ground.
Arrest and Charges
After the perpetrators fled the scene, authorities worked tirelessly to bring them to justice. On Friday, one of the suspects was apprehended and charged with capital murder. The 14-year-old suspect was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Harris County Detention Center.
In a surprising turn of events, ABC13 sources revealed that the suspect’s mother accompanied him to the police station to surrender. Despite his tender age, the suspect will have to face the consequences of his actions in a court of law.
Family’s Grief
Price’s family is understandably devastated by the loss of their loved one. Speaking to ABC13, Price’s father, Leo Price Sr., expressed his sorrow over the tragic incident. “This happened while he was doing his job,” he said. “Really, ain’t nothing that can be said about a man going to work.”
