A man has been arrested in connection with a cold case murder from 2007, where an 18-year-old man was found shot multiple times on Blue Hills Avenue in Hartford. Ramon Smith, 35, was extradited back to Connecticut from Warren, Maine, where he was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for murder and possession of a firearm in relation to the death of Joshua McClelland. The incident occurred on March 25, 2007, when patrol officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim. Suspect Extradited

The Crime Scene

On March 25, 2007, patrol officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the vicinity of 250 Blue Hills Ave. around 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered McClelland with multiple gunshot wounds. The Hartford teenager was rushed to Saint Francis Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Investigation and Arrest

Following the discovery of the victim, the Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions took charge of the investigation. After an extensive inquiry, in collaboration with the Connecticut Division of Justice Cold Case Unit, probable cause was established. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was issued for Ramon Smith, charging him with murder and criminal possession of a firearm.

Current Status

As of now, Smith remains in custody with a bond set at $1 million. The law enforcement authorities are working diligently to bring justice to the victim and closure to the grieving family.
