Mt. Apo Natural Park has temporarily suspended trekking activities for three months to protect wildlife during their breeding season. The annual closure, from June 1 to August 31, 2024, aims to give wildlife a peaceful environment to thrive. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Office-Soccsksargen (DENR-12) supports this initiative to minimize human interference and promote ecosystem rejuvenation. This proactive measure follows a previous suspension of trekking activities to prevent wildfires. By allowing nature the necessary space and time to flourish, Mt. Apo Natural Park can maintain its status as a sacred mountain and vital biodiversity hotspot.
