Deadly Crash in Kansas City, Missouri

Last Saturday night, a tragic incident unfolded in Kansas City, Missouri, resulting in the death of a 54-year-old man. The driver responsible for the crash, Donyell Horton, a 50-year-old Kansas City, Kansas man, is now facing charges of DWI and possession of a controlled substance.

Details of the Crash

The crash occurred at Interstate 70 and Manchester Trafficway just after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. According to Kansas City police officers, Horton was driving a Chevrolet Equinox at a high speed down I-70 when he collided with a Toyota Camry, Ford Expedition, and a Ford F-150. All vehicles involved were traveling eastbound on I-70.

The impact of the crash caused the Expedition to roll over the Camry and down an embankment. Tragically, the driver of the Camry, identified as Troy Chatman, was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Fortunately, the driver of the Camry, as well as the driver and passenger of the F150 truck, escaped uninjured.

Suspect in Custody

Horton, who was identified as the driver of the Equinox, sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to a hospital for treatment. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond and is facing charges of DWI and possession of a controlled substance. A bond hearing for Horton is scheduled for June 10 at 1:30 p.m.
