Two alleged gang associates accused of murdering the mother of a rival gang member are set to remain in custody until their trial date. Ekene Anigbo and Jalen Falk appeared in a pretrial conference in Kelowna, where a B.C. Supreme Court Justice made a decision that cannot be published due to strict bans. On June 3, Anigbo and Falk appeared via video for a pretrial conference in Kelowna. The B.C. Supreme Court Justice presiding over the case made a decision regarding the proceedings, which cannot be disclosed due to strict bans in place to ensure a fair trial.
Arrest and Charges
Anigbo, known by his rap alias Lolo Lanski, and Falk were arrested and charged with the murder of Kathy Richardson, who was found deceased at her residence in Naramata in June 2021. Richardson was the mother of a man named Wade Cudmore, who is linked to a rival gang.
Related Crimes and Gang Activities
Cudmore himself is facing charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of brothers Carlo and Erick Fryer. The Fryer brothers’ bodies were discovered on a remote road in Naramata, and their homicides are believed to be connected to gang and drug activities in various parts of British Columbia.
Police Warnings and Investigations
Following the deaths of the Fryer brothers and amid escalating gang conflicts, the Vancouver Police Department issued warnings about potential violence involving various crime groups. Anigbo was listed as one of Vancouver’s “top six gang members” and identified as a target for violence from rival gangs.
Arrest and Charges Against Anigbo
On Oct. 7, 2021, Anigbo was arrested in Vancouver for weapons-related charges and has remained in custody ever since. He is now facing a charge of first-degree murder in connection to Kathy Richardson’s death.
Upcoming Court Dates
Falk and Anigbo are scheduled to appear in Kelowna court on August 16 for another pretrial conference. A Voir Dire, a mini-trial to determine the admissibility of evidence, is set to take place from January 13, 2025, until March 28. Trial dates have not yet been finalized.
As the legal proceedings continue for Anigbo and Falk, the community remains on edge, awaiting justice for the tragic loss of Kathy Richardson and the ongoing gang-related violence plaguing the region.
