On a fateful Friday evening in St. Croix, a distress call was made to the 911 Emergency Call Center. The call came from a female victim who reported a harrowing incident of domestic violence involving her partner, 29-year-old Haakim Gordon. The victim stated that Gordon had assaulted and strangled her during a heated argument, while she was holding their infant child.

The victim detailed the terrifying ordeal, describing how Gordon had physically attacked her, leaving visible injuries on her body. Gordon, who chose not to provide a statement to the police, was swiftly arrested and charged with second-degree assault, as well as simple assault and battery. He is currently being held at the John Bell Correctional Facility as he awaits his Advice of Rights hearing.

Robbery Incident in St. Thomas

Moving to the island of St. Thomas, another alarming incident unfolded on January 14, 2024. Amon-Re Smith was identified as a key suspect in a robbery that took place in Estate Solberg. The victim reported that two masked individuals, dressed in black, had forcefully taken his jewellery.

Further investigation revealed that Smith, aged 23, was the driver during the robbery. On May 31, he was apprehended at Cyril E. King Airport as he attempted to flee the island. Customs agents detained Smith, leading to his subsequent arrest by VIPD officers. Smith now faces a slew of charges, including first and third-degree robbery, grand larceny, assault, and possession of a firearm.
