Tragic Incident Unfolds on Interstate 70 in Preble County

Investigators in Preble County are currently looking into a heartbreaking murder-suicide that occurred on Monday night on Interstate 70.

At approximately 5:15 pm, the Preble County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) and the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) responded to a distress call regarding a vehicle travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes on I-70 near the Indiana state line. However, upon arrival at the scene, the authorities were unable to locate the vehicle.

Several hours later, around 9:17 pm, Sheriff’s deputies were once again summoned to the area, this time in relation to a vehicle found in a ditch on the north side of I-70 near the US 35 onramp.

Upon reaching the scene, PCSO, OSHP, and a Wayne County Indiana Sheriff’s deputy discovered the vehicle, which was believed to be the same one from the earlier incident. Tragically, both occupants in the vehicle were found deceased, with apparent gunshot wounds, as confirmed by the PCSO.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Alysha Rountree, a 31-year-old from Pryor, Oklahoma, while the passenger was recognised as Robert Wilson III, aged 31, formerly of Twinsburg, Ohio.

Ongoing Investigation

The incident is currently being investigated as a murder-suicide by the PCSO, the Preble County Coroner’s Office, and the Pryor Creek Oklahoma Police Department.
