A Nolanville resident was recently sentenced to prison after throwing a knife at a Killeen Police Department officer during an incident in 2022. Mouwandu Lavonte Hudson Jr., 28, was indicted on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated assault against a public servant on Nov. 2, 2022. However, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of assault of a public servant, a third-degree felony, in the 264th Judicial District Court. Judge Paul LePak found him guilty and sentenced him to two years in prison, according to Bell County court records.

**The Incident in Killeen**

The incident took place on Aug. 3, 2022, when Killeen police received a report of a person with a knife in the 4800 block of Trimmier Road. The caller stated that the individual had thrown a knife at him before leaving the scene on foot. Two officers patrolling the area spotted a man matching the suspect’s description near Lions Club Park. They attempted to detain the man, later identified as Hudson, who refused to comply with their orders.

RELATED STORIES

When the officers approached Hudson, they noticed he had a box cutter knife in his hand. Despite repeated orders to drop the weapon, Hudson aggressively threw the knife at one of the officers while shouting expletives. Fortunately, the officer managed to avoid being hit. Hudson then advanced towards the other officer, who deployed his Taser, causing Hudson to fall to the ground. Despite attempts to resist, Hudson was eventually subdued and taken into custody.

**Sentencing and Jail Time**

Hudson was booked into the county jail on Aug. 5, 2022, and was held without bond. His guilty plea and subsequent sentencing to two years in prison marked the resolution of the case, ensuring that he would face the consequences of his actions.

In a separate case heard in Bell County’s courts, a 23-year-old man, Jordan Wesley Glidden of Harker Heights, was sentenced to a five-year prison term for a sex crime committed when he was 15 years old. Glidden pleaded guilty to indecency with a child by contact, a second-degree felony, after being indicted on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The incidents involving a female victim younger than 14 years old occurred in 2016 and led to the transfer of the case from juvenile to adult criminal court.

**Conclusion**

These recent court proceedings in Bell County serve as a reminder of the legal consequences individuals face for their actions. From acts of violence to crimes against children, the justice system works to ensure that offenders are held accountable for their behaviour. As these cases demonstrate, the law will not tolerate such actions, and those responsible will face the appropriate punishment.
