Details of the Shooting

According to the BCA’s news release on Sunday night, the Minneapolis police received a distress call at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday reporting two individuals shot inside an apartment at 2221 Blaisdell Ave S. Officer Jamal Mitchell, 36, was the first to respond to the scene. Mitchell approached Mohamed, who was seated next to a parked vehicle, to offer assistance. The bystander who was shot before the police arrived remains in critical but stable condition.

Investigation and Findings

Following the incident, investigators recovered a handgun with an extended magazine and multiple cartridge casings at the scene.
