A man in Pittsburgh is facing charges for carrying a gun and evading police in Arlington. The incident occurred when detectives encountered five males on S. 18th Street, one of whom was carrying an open liquor container. The man, later identified as Deandre Basking-Turner, dropped the bottle and ran from police. He was apprehended, and two guns with extended magazines and laser attachments were recovered. Basking-Turner, 18, was charged with multiple offenses and taken to jail. The investigation is ongoing, and two other males from the group were detained. Arlington Man Arrested for Carrying Gun and Evading Police

A man in Arlington found himself in hot water over the weekend when he was caught running from police while carrying a gun. The incident took place in the 2400 block of S. 18th Street just after 11:30 p.m. on June 1, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

Police Encounter with Suspect

Detectives spotted five males walking in the area, one of whom was carrying an open liquor container. When detectives attempted to speak with the individual, later identified as 18-year-old Deandre Basking-Turner, he refused to cooperate. Instead, he dropped the liquor bottle and took off running.

Arrest and Recovery of Firearms

Authorities were able to catch up with Basking-Turner and discovered a gun with an extended magazine and laser attachment tucked into his waistband. Additionally, a second firearm with a loaded magazine and laser attachment was found in a nearby garbage bag.

Basking-Turner was promptly arrested and now faces charges including carrying a firearm without a license, evading arrest or detention on foot, open container, possession, and underage drinking. He was taken into custody and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation is still ongoing, particularly in relation to the second firearm recovered at the scene. Two other males from the group were detained by police, although it remains unclear whether they will also be charged in connection with the incident.
