A woman was allegedly hacked to death by her husband in Ishwardi upazila, Pabna district. The incident occurred in Baghail West Para area under Pakshi union. The victim, Rina Begum, 30, was a garment worker from Bagha upazila in Rajshahi district. The dispute between the couple arose from the husband’s drug addiction. During an altercation on her way to work, the husband attacked Rina with a knife, resulting in her death. Police have detained the husband in connection with the murder. The body has been sent for autopsy at Pabna Medical College Hospital.

A woman was reportedly hacked to death by her husband in Ishwardi upazila in Pabna district on Sunday.

The tragic incident occurred at approximately 7:00 am in Baghail West Para area under Pakshi union in the upazila.

Details of the Incident

The victim, identified as Rina Begum, 30, the daughter of Akbar Ali, hailed from Bagha upazila in Rajshahi district and worked in a garment factory.

According to sources, there had been a prolonged dispute between Milon Hossain and his wife Rina Begum regarding Milon’s drug addiction.

On the fateful morning, as Rina was on her way to work, the couple engaged in a heated argument which escalated into a physical altercation. In a shocking turn of events, Milon attacked Rina with a knife, resulting in her untimely demise.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Upon receiving the information, law enforcement officials rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and transferred it to the morgue at Pabna Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination, as confirmed by Ruhul Amin, the in-charge of Pakshi Police Outpost.

Subsequently, the police detained the suspect, the deceased’s husband, in connection with the brutal murder, further adding to the gravity of the situation.
