Two Robbers Killed in Shootout in Corella, Bohol
CEBU CITY, Philippines—A dramatic incident unfolded in Purok 1, Barangay Anislag, Corella town, Bohol, on Saturday evening, June 1, 2024, as two robbers met their demise in a fierce shootout.
The perpetrators, identified as Ricky Gamo of Brgy. Tagbuane, Alburquerque town, and Jonas Amen of Ubujan District, Tagbilaran City, found themselves in a deadly confrontation with the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO).
Prior to the shootout, the suspects, along with an accomplice, attempted to rob a woman in Sikatuna town. The woman’s cries for help startled the suspects, prompting them to flee on a red motorcycle.

During a tense hot pursuit, law enforcement officers managed to locate the suspects in Corella. As the police tried to apprehend them, the suspects opted to make a daring escape, abandoning their motorcycle and disappearing into a dense thicket while exchanging gunfire with the authorities.
Police Engagement
In the ensuing exchange of bullets, one PIU officer sustained a hit but thankfully escaped unscathed due to his reliable bulletproof vest.
Tragically, both suspects sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center in Tagbilaran City. The third accomplice managed to evade capture and remains at large.
Previous Criminal Activities
The deceased individuals had a history of involvement in snatching and theft and were connected to a string of robberies in May across Maribojoc, Tagbilaran City, and Dauis. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to track down the elusive third suspect.
The police force remains vigilant in their efforts to maintain law and order in the region, ensuring that criminal elements are brought to justice and that communities can feel safe and secure.
