In Gazipur, a more devastating accident took place when a truck collided with a pick-up van in Sreepur upazila. The collision resulted in the deaths of Chanchal Roy, 30, the van’s driver from Sunamganj, and Ripon, 35, a resident of Mohammadpur in Dhaka. Another individual, Md Mamun, 40, from Barishal, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
According to sources from the Mawna Fire Service, the pickup van was speeding towards Bhaluka after delivering fish in Mohammadpur when it crashed into a truck near the Jainabazar Road Divider area. The impact was so severe that Chanchal Roy lost his life instantly, while Ripon succumbed to his injuries at the Sreepur Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-charge Mahbub Morshed of Mawna Highway Police Station provided confirmation of the tragic incident.
