The incident occurred when a truck collided with the motorcycle he was riding, resulting in his immediate death. Meanwhile, in Gazipur, two individuals, Chanchal Roy and Ripon, lost their lives in a collision between a truck and a pick-up van. The speeding van collided with the truck, leading to the death of Roy and Ripon, with another individual, Md Mamun, sustaining injuries. Tragic incidents like these highlight the importance of road safety measures.

Incident in Kurigram

The first incident took place in Kurigram, where a Jubo League activist named Md Islam Bhuttu, aged 46 and a resident of the post office area in Kurigram municipality, met with a fatal accident. In the early hours of Sunday, Bhuttu was riding a motorcycle when a sand-laden truck from Chilmari collided with him, resulting in his untimely demise at the scene.

Local witnesses recounted the harrowing collision that claimed Bhuttu’s life, prompting the swift intervention of the police, who seized the truck involved in the accident. Masudur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of Kurigram Sadar Police Station, confirmed the tragic incident.

Tragedy Strikes in Gazipur

The second tragedy unfolded in Gazipur, where two individuals lost their lives in a collision between a truck and a pick-up van in Sreepur upazila. The victims were identified as Chanchal Roy, aged 30 and a resident of Sunamganj, who was the driver of the pick-up van, and Ripon, aged 35 and a resident of Mohammadpur in Dhaka. Another individual, Md Mamun, aged 40 and a resident of Barishal, sustained injuries in the accident.

According to sources from the Mawna Fire Service, the fatal collision occurred near the Jainabazar Road Divider area as the speeding pick-up van, returning from delivering fish in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur, collided with a truck while en route to Bhaluka. The impact of the crash claimed the life of Chanchal Roy on the spot, while Ripon succumbed to his injuries at Sreepur Upazila Health Complex. The injured Mamun is currently receiving medical treatment.

Confirming the details of the incident, Mahbub Morshed, the officer-in-charge of Mawna Highway Police Station, highlighted the need for road safety awareness and adherence to traffic rules to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring.
