A French national was arrested in Thailand after a package containing cocaine, intended for a man in Siem Reap, was intercepted at a Bangkok parcel office. The package, addressed to ‘Jerome’ in Cambodia, contained around 10 grams of cocaine hidden in a red remote-controlled car. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old French national ‘Macon’, confessed to purchasing the drugs from an unknown African man at a nightclub in Bangkok. He now faces charges of attempting to illegally export cocaine and distributing narcotics. The arrest was made possible by the vigilance of staff at the Rama 9 service center, who alerted the police.

French National Arrested in Thailand for Cocaine Smuggling
A French national has found himself in hot water after being arrested in Thailand for attempting to smuggle cocaine into Cambodia. The incident unfolded when a suspicious package addressed to a man in Siem Reap was intercepted at a Bangkok parcel office.
Discovery of Suspicious Package
Authorities at the Rama 9 service center in Bangkok grew wary of a parcel and decided to alert the police for further investigation. Upon opening the package, they discovered approximately 10 grams of cocaine cleverly concealed inside a red remote-controlled car along with a remote control. The parcel was intended for delivery to a recipient named ‘Jerome’ in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Arrest of the Suspect
Following the discovery of the drugs, police initiated a search for the sender, who had used the alias ‘Gregore’. The investigation led them to a housing estate in the Phatthanakan area of Suan Luang district, Bangkok, where they apprehended a 39-year-old French national known as ‘Macon’. The suspect was reported to be residing with a Thai woman at the time of his arrest.
Legal Charges
The court issued an arrest warrant dated April 23, 2024, charging the suspect with attempting to illegally export type 2 narcotics (cocaine) for commercial purposes and distributing narcotics to the public. During interrogation, the suspect admitted to purchasing the drugs from an unidentified African individual at a nightclub in Bangkok. He further confessed that he had planned to continue his drug smuggling operation had he not been caught by law enforcement.

For now, ‘Macon’ remains in police custody as the legal proceedings against him unfold. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers and consequences associated with drug trafficking across international borders.
