Two young men from Charbagh and Pirkhel areas of Junglekhel were killed in a motorcycle collision with a trailer truck near the tunnel toll plaza on the Indus Highway in Kohat. The bodies were taken to KDA Teaching Hospital after the incident. Power supply was restored after a fire in the 132KV grid station caused an outage for 34 hours. District and Sessions Judge Sofia Vaqar visited Kohat jail and demanded data on prisoners and undertrials. Residents of Phase-II of KDA Township called for the closure of stone crushing plants along the main road. The incident was reported in Dawn on June 2nd, 2024.

Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two Young Men in Kohat

In a tragic accident that shook the residents of Kohat, two young men lost their lives when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a trailer truck near the tunnel toll plaza on the Indus Highway. The incident, which occurred on a fateful Saturday, left the entire community in mourning.

Victims identified as Jasim and Zain

The two victims were identified as Jasim and Zain, who hailed from Charbagh and Pirkhel areas of Junglekhel. Their untimely demise has left their families and friends devastated, as they grapple with the sudden loss of their loved ones.

Efforts of Rescue 1122 and KDA Teaching Hospital

Rescue 1122 ambulances swiftly responded to the scene of the accident and transported the bodies to the KDA Teaching Hospital. Following the necessary autopsy procedures, the bodies were then handed over to the grieving families to carry out the final rites for the departed souls.

Restoration of Power Supply Brings Relief

In a separate incident, power supply to the affected areas was completely restored after a fire in the 132KV grid station on Rawalpindi Road caused damage to several feeders. A dedicated technical team from Peshawar worked tirelessly to repair all the affected feeders, bringing much-needed relief to the consumers who had endured hours of power outage.

Judge’s Visit to Kohat Jail

On a different note, District and sessions judge Sofia Vaqar paid a visit to the Kohat jail, where she inspected various sections including the women and juvenile barracks, hospital, and skills centre. She also interacted with the jail superintendent and requested data on prisoners who had completed their two-year terms, as well as details of the undertrials.

Residents Demand Closure of Stone Crushing Plants

Meanwhile, residents of Phase-II of the posh KDA Township voiced their concerns about the operation of stone crushing plants along the main road. During a meeting held in the community, they called for the closure of factories and stone crushing plants along the Peshawar-Kohat Road up to the KDA Hospital, citing environmental and health hazards.
