Montgomery County Police have apprehended a Chevy Chase man linked to the tragic demise of a Maryland Parole and Probation officer. The incident occurred when officers responded to a welfare check on the agent, who failed to report for duty after a resident check. The deceased agent, identified as Davis Martinez, was found in the home of registered sex offender Emanuel Edward Sewell. Martinez, a dedicated public servant for six years, was confirmed as the victim of a homicide. Governor Wes Moore expressed condolences, stating the state mourns the loss of Agent Martinez. Sewell has been charged with second-degree murder and was arrested in West Virginia.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County Police have apprehended a Chevy Chase man sought in connection with the passing of a Maryland Parole and Probation agent.
The tragic event transpired on Friday evening, just before 6 p.m., when law enforcement officers responded to a distress call in the 2800 block of Terrace Drive. The call was made for a welfare check on the agent, who had failed to report back to duty after a routine resident check.
It was revealed that the resident check was for 54-year-old Emanuel Edward Sewell, a known registered sex offender.

Upon gaining entry into the premises, officers discovered the deceased agent, now identified as 33-year-old Davis Martinez. Sewell was nowhere to be found at the scene.
Martinez had been a dedicated member of the Maryland Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services for six years.
The medical examiner’s report has confirmed Martinez’s death as a homicide.
“Agent Davis Martinez served our state with distinction and our communities are safer because of him,” expressed Governor Wes Moore. “My heart goes out to his friends, family, loved ones, and colleagues—our entire state grieves with you following the loss of one of our own in the line of duty.”
Earlier today, authorities issued an arrest warrant and a Blue Alert for Sewell, who now faces charges of second-degree murder.
Prior to his apprehension, law enforcement believed that Sewell was in possession of Agent Martinez’s badge and was travelling in a grey 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Maryland license plate 93661HT.
He was eventually spotted travelling on I-64 near Hurricane, West Virginia.
Officers from the US Marshalls Task Force conducted a traffic stop and successfully apprehended Sewell.
