A tragic incident unfolded in Sumter County, Florida, where the peaceful town of Wildwood was shaken by a violent crime. The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 16-year-old suspect was apprehended after allegedly killing a teenager and injuring an adult during a horrifying incident on Saturday night.
Details of the Incident
The authorities responded to a distressing stabbing call at 6611 County Road 148 around 10 p.m. Upon arrival, they found two victims, one adult and one teenager, who had been stabbed. The incident took place during a sleepover that the teenage victim was hosting.
According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect, who was known to the victim, arrived unannounced and forcibly entered the home, where the tragic events unfolded. The suspect stabbed both victims, causing severe injuries that required immediate medical attention.

Arrest of the Suspect
During the investigation, authorities identified a 16-year-old as the suspect, who had fled the scene on foot. With the assistance of the sheriff’s office helicopter, the suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident.
Tragically, the 14-year-old victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:19 a.m. The adult victim is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital for the injuries sustained during the attack.
Legal Actions Taken
The 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody and charged with premeditated first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Both the suspect and the victims had withdrawn from Sumter County Schools and were undergoing homeschooling at the time of the incident.
