The joint rescue operation conducted by BSF, NDRF, SDRF, and Assam Rifles at the landslide-hit stone quarry in Aizawl has resulted in the recovery of more bodies, bringing the death toll in landslides in Mizoram to 29. A 34-year-old woman, Vanlalruali, was found in Tlawng River in Kolasib district, bordering Assam. Her body was identified by family members in Kawnpui. The search for five missing persons, including Vanlalruali’s husband, is ongoing. The deceased included both locals and migrants from Jharkhand and Assam. Chief Minister Lalduhoma has announced an ex-gratia amount of ₹4 lakh for the families of the deceased and allocated Rs 15 crore for disaster management.

Following a devastating series of landslides in Mizoram, the death toll has tragically risen to 29. The latest victim, a 34-year-old woman named Vanlalruali, was discovered in the Tlawng River in Kolasib district, adding to the already tragic loss of life in the region.
The woman and her husband were swept away by a landslide that struck Aibawk village in Aizawl district on Tuesday. Her body was eventually found in the river in Hortoki village in Kolasib district, which shares a border with Assam.
Vanlalruali’s body was taken to Kawnpui after being retrieved from the river, where her family was able to confirm her identity. The search continues for five other missing individuals, including a six-month-old child, all hailing from Melthum.

The devastating landslides that have struck Aizawl district have claimed the lives of 21 locals and eight migrants from Jharkhand and Assam. In response to this tragedy, Chief Minister Lalduhoma has announced an ex-gratia amount of ₹4 lakh for the families of each deceased victim.
