A tragic incident struck Thrissur on Saturday as two lives were lost due to a lightning strike amidst torrential rain. The victims have been identified as Thoppil Ganeshan, 50, of Velur, and Nimisha, 42, wife of Velekkad Sudheer of Kothakulam, Valappad.

Ganeshan was sitting in the veranda of his house when he was struck by lightning. Despite being rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Nimisha, on the other hand, was struck by lightning while taking a bath in a bathroom outside her house. The impact of the lightning caused cracks in the bathroom wall and damage to electric wires and lights.

Fortunately, after the track was cleared, the services were able to resume. Additionally, there were reports of issues with the signal system near the Thrissur railway station due to the heavy rain.
