Dehradun Police Cracks Sensational Jewellery Theft Case

Dehradun, the picturesque capital of Uttarakhand, recently made headlines for the successful resolution of a high-profile theft case. The incident, which involved the theft of jewellery worth Rs 8 lakhs from a house in the MDDA Colony, sent shockwaves through the local community. However, thanks to the diligent efforts of the Dehradun police, the perpetrators behind the crime have been brought to justice.

Details of the Burglary

The theft took place on May 29 at the residence of Pallav Sharma, a resident of the MDDA Colony. Sharma reported to the authorities that unknown burglars had broken into his home and made off with gold and silver jewellery valued at approximately Rs 8 lakhs. Following Sharma’s complaint, the police immediately launched an investigation into the matter.

Breakthrough in the Case

During the course of their investigation, the police turned their attention to the maid employed by the Sharma household. Initially, the maid denied any involvement in the crime. However, upon further scrutiny of CCTV footage from the residence, a crucial piece of evidence emerged. The footage captured an unidentified individual, clad in a white T-shirt and a cloth covering his face, executing the theft in a mere six minutes.

As the police delved deeper into the case, they uncovered a suspicious phone call made by the maid to her husband just prior to the burglary. Additionally, a photograph of the maid’s husband wearing the exact same T-shirt as the thief in the CCTV footage further incriminated him in the crime. Subsequently, the police were able to apprehend the maid’s husband, Kuldeep, in Delhi, where he was found in possession of the stolen jewellery.
