28-year-old Courtney Copas, also of Piketon, was a passenger in Smith’s vehicle and sustained serious injuries in the crash. She was rushed to Grant Medical Center for treatment, where she fought bravely for her life. However, the community received the devastating news that Copas passed away from her injuries on May 31, adding to the toll of this horrific incident.
