The Scene of the Incident
This morning, the tranquility of the Stripes Convenience Store at 1322 S. Bryant Blvd in San Angelo, TX was disrupted by the sudden arrival of an armada of San Angelo Police Department Ford Interceptors. Nine police cars descended upon the scene, creating quite a spectacle for onlookers.
The Arrest of Mikayla Menzies
As the police swarm surrounded the Stripes, their attention was focused on a black Jeep SUV parked at the gas pumps. Inside the vehicle was 27-year-old Mikayla Menzies, who found herself in hot water for failing to appear at a court date in December 2023.
Menzies’ legal troubles trace back to an incident at the Walmart SuperCenter at 5501 Sherwood Way. On that fateful day in August 25, 2022, she was caught attempting to walk out of the store with stolen items in her purse. The police were called, and she was detained after offering to return the merchandise.

The Discovery of Illegal Substances
During her arrest at Walmart, a search revealed that Menzies was in possession of a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance identified as methamphetamine. Additionally, she had a gold container with two small plastic bags, one containing a prescription drug known as Diazepam and the other holding black tar substance identified as heroin.
Charged with possession and theft of property, Menzies faced legal consequences for her actions. She eventually accepted a plea deal that resulted in probation, but her failure to comply with the terms of her probation led to further legal complications.
The Consequences of Non-Compliance
Despite being granted a bond from Freedom/Libertad Bail Bonds, Menzies failed to show up for her court hearing in December 2023. As a result, her bond was revoked, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
After over six months of evading authorities, Menzies was finally apprehended at the Stripes Convenience Store, accompanied by a small dog. She is currently being held at the Tom Green County Correctional Center for her failure to appear in court and her previous drug-related charges.
The wheels of justice may turn slowly, but they eventually catch up to those who attempt to evade them. Mikayla Menzies is now facing the consequences of her actions, as the legal system seeks to hold her accountable for her past transgressions.
