The Latest Updates on the LeRoy Man and Luther Woman Charged in Connection to Cadillac Murder
In a recent development in the case of the 55-year-old Cadillac man’s murder, the preliminary hearing for Michael Peter Hayes and Katelynne Jonelle Hendricks has been adjourned in 84th District Court. Wexford County Prosecutor Corey Wiggins stated that the hearing was postponed due to the late arrival of some evidence that needed to be reviewed before proceeding.
Separation of Charges
Prosecutor Wiggins also mentioned that Hayes and Hendricks, who were initially scheduled for a joint preliminary hearing, will now have their cases separated. However, he could not disclose the reason for this separation due to ethical rules of the court. It may take a few weeks before the hearings are rescheduled, as they had not been set as of Friday afternoon.
Charges Against Hayes and Hendricks
Hayes faces charges of first-degree murder, felony firearms, dead body disinterment/mutilation, concealing the death of an individual, and removing a dead body without permission from the medical examiner. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment for the murder charge and additional terms for the other offenses. On the other hand, Hendricks is charged with accessory after the fact to a felony and concealing the death of an individual, which could result in up to five years in prison.
Police Investigation
The investigation into the murder began when Michael Hague was reported missing on February 20. His belongings were found at his home, but a disturbed area behind the house raised suspicions. Subsequent searches led to the discovery of burnt wood, clothing remnants, and a piece of apparent flesh. The Michigan State Police crime lab was called in to excavate the site, and Hague’s body was positively identified.

Autopsy and Evidence
An autopsy conducted at the Western Michigan University Department of Pathology confirmed that Hague’s death was a result of homicide. The investigation also revealed that Hayes and Hendricks had been staying with Hague before his disappearance, making them prime suspects in the case.

The investigation is ongoing, with the prosecution bearing the burden of proving the guilt of Hayes and Hendricks beyond a reasonable doubt. Both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
