Two Yarsa Pickers Succumb to Altitude Sickness in Mugu District
Tragedy struck in the remote district of Mugu, where two yarsa pickers lost their lives to altitude sickness. The victims, identified as Man Bahadur Buda, 29, and Shovan Budha, were residents of Chhayanath Rara municipality-12. The news was confirmed by APF Police Constable Tilak Baduwal.
Details of the Incident
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office in Mugu, Birendra Thapa, both individuals fell ill due to altitude sickness and were rushed to Mugu for medical treatment. Despite efforts to save their lives, they tragically passed away during the course of treatment.
Additionally, another individual, Raj Bahadur Sawad from Kampha village in Mugu district, also suffered from altitude sickness and was being transported to Mugu village from Mugu Patan for urgent medical attention.
Yarsa Collection Permission
Mugum Karmarong rural municipality had granted permission to the locals to collect yarsa, a highly valued herb, in more than 25 highland areas of the district starting from May 7.
