As the Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull over the vehicle near the Highway 7 and CR 1032 junction, the situation quickly escalated into a high-speed chase. The suspect, later identified as Larriel Milam, a 30-year-old resident of Marshall County, took off at a rapid pace, weaving through traffic and endangering other motorists on the road.

The pursuit continued along Highway 7, with the deputy hot on the heels of the fleeing vehicle. The adrenaline-fueled chase came to a crashing halt near the CR 244 and Hwy. 7 intersection, where the suspect’s car collided with another vehicle, sending both vehicles spinning out of control.

In the aftermath of the collision, chaos ensued as Milam attempted to flee the scene on foot. However, law enforcement officers quickly apprehended him and brought him into custody. Both Milam and the other party involved in the crash were rushed to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi for treatment of their injuries, which fortunately were not life-threatening.

Following his medical clearance, Milam was transferred to the Lafayette County Detention Center, where he was booked and issued a $5,000 bond by a Lafayette County Justice Court Judge. However, his troubles did not end there, as multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Mississippi Department of Corrections, the Union County Sheriff’s Department, the Oxford Police Department, the Panola County Sheriff’s Department, and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, had placed holds on him for various outstanding warrants.
